Wednesday's Manchester United transfer talk news roundup: Paul Pogba, Jadon Sancho, Kieran Trippier

Sports Mole rounds up the latest transfer talk for Manchester United on Wednesday, December 30.

A frustrating summer transfer window has now closed with Manchester United having missed out on a number of their top targets, including Jadon Sancho.

The Red Devils were busy on deadline day, though, bringing in Edinson Cavani, Alex Telles and Facundo Pellistri, in addition to agreeing a deal to sign Amad Traore in January. Attention will now switch to other business they may do when the window reopens in the winter.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up the latest news on possible comings and goings from Old Trafford.

Wednesday morning's Manchester United transfer talk news roundup:

Manchester United 'will not let Paul Pogba leave on the cheap'

Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba will reportedly not be allowed to depart Old Trafford on the cheap in the summer transfer window.

The France international is expected to seek pastures new after his agent Mino Raiola claimed that Pogba's time at Old Trafford is over, with a summer move more likely than a January exit.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has hinted that Pogba could be persuaded to stay if United can challenge for silverware, but with the 27-year-old struggling for starts this season, a transfer in 2021 seems the most likely option.

Juventus were reportedly prepared to offer one of Aaron Ramsey or Adrien Rabiot to the Red Devils for their former player, but journalist Fabrizio Romano claims that United are not willing to accept such a proposal.

Romano adds that United will only accept a significant sum of money or a swap deal with a world-class player for Pogba, with Real Madrid also regarded as one of the favourites for the 27-year-old's signature.

Pogba has only started seven of Man United's 14 Premier League games this term, and his contract at Old Trafford has 18 months left to run.

Liverpool 'keeping close tabs on Borussia Dortmund's Jadon Sancho'

Liverpool are reportedly keeping a close eye on developments surrounding the future of Borussia Dortmund winger Jadon Sancho.

Manchester United's pursuit of the England international dominated talk of the summer transfer window, but a move did not materialise and he remained at the Westfalenstadion.

Sancho is yet to get off the mark in the current Bundesliga campaign, although the 20-year-old has registered five league assists as well as four goals in the Champions League and DFB Pokal.

United are expected to reignite their interest in Sancho next summer, but according to the Que Golazo podcast, Liverpool are also in the race for his signature.

Anfield was touted as a potential destination for Sancho during the most recent transfer window, and the Reds are said to be considering a £110m swoop for the Dortmund attacker in 2021.

Sancho is under contract at the Westfalenstadion until the end of the 2022-23 campaign, where he boasts a total of 38 goals and 52 assists in 117 matches.
