De Boer: 'Van de Beek is happy at Man United'

Donny van de Beek has not asked Manchester United to sell him this summer, according to former Netherlands international Ronald de Boer.

Donny van de Beek "feels loved" and is "so happy" at Manchester United, according to former Netherlands international Ronald de Boer.

The 23-year-old has made 26 appearances for the Red Devils this season following his arrival from Ajax but has largely struggled to impress, providing just one goal and one assist for the club.

A recent report claimed that the Dutchman is unhappy at Old Trafford and wants to leave the club during this summer's transfer window in search of pastures new.

De Boer has conceded that Van de Beek is not pleased with his current playing situation but has rejected suggestions that the midfielder has asked to be sold in the upcoming market.

"I spoke to Ajax and they said there's no truth in it at all. He didn't ask to speak to them. He's just focusing on his recovery on his ankle, and it's not true that he asked Man United to leave," De Boer told talkSPORT.

"His agent also told me that of course he's not happy that he's not playing. He's only had two starts under [Ole Gunnar] Solskjaer and that's not what he hoped for when he joined Man United. He's not worried, of course he wants to play every game. But he's not worried that he can't succeed.

"He has to have a review after this year, asking where do I stand? Do I have a possibility to succeed here or not? Otherwise, I have to make a move. We will see where he's heading next year, maybe he stays at Man United or maybe another club is interesting for him.

"But he's not panicking at all, he told his agent he's so happy at Man United because the club is one of the best in terms of how they treat him, he feels loved."

Van de Beek has made just two Premier League starts under head coach Solskjaer.
