Manchester United's Patrice Evra dismisses title odds

Manchester United defender Patrice Evra dismisses the title odds that have his side at third favourites.

Manchester United defender Patrice Evra has dismissed the Premier League title odds, which have his side down as third favourites to lift the trophy.

Despite winning their 20th league title by 11 points last season, United have been installed as third favourites behind rivals Manchester City and Chelsea.

The exit of Sir Alex Ferguson has seen many doubt the club can retain their title, but Evra insists that is is not new for him, having seen United being written off before.

"It is not just this season, it is every year," Evra told MUTV. "I have been here eight years now and every year people say we are going to finish fourth or fifth in the league. It is unbelievable."

However, despite the odds, Evra believes that the 4-1 win over Swansea City sends out a strong message.

"But the result is not a message for our opponents," he said. "It is a message to trust what are doing with this new manager, trust the way we want to play and the way he wants to win. That is it. The message is for us, for ourselves and the Manchester United fans."

Next up for David Moyes's side is a clash against Chelsea at Old Trafford.
