Sir Alex Ferguson is hoping that Manchester United's clash with Liverpool at the weekend makes the headlines for the right reasons.

Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has told fans of his side and Liverpool to focus on the football when the two sides meet on Sunday.

The last meeting between these two sides at Old Trafford was overshadowed when Luis Suarez refused to shake the hand of Patrice Evra.

The issue was put to bed when the duo shook hands at Anfield in September, but Ferguson hopes that the eagerly-anticipated clash at the weekend will make the headlines for the right reasons.

"There will always be a certain build-up to a Manchester United-Liverpool game, simply because of the history between the two clubs, the two most successful in the country," Ferguson told Inside United. "It brings its own agenda in terms of profile and pre-match discussion.

"Last year it was unfortunate with the Suarez behaviour.

"I think hopefully it is behind both clubs now and we can just look forward to the game."
