Luke Shaw insists that his Manchester United and England teammate Jadon Sancho will live up to his £72m price tag despite an underwhelming start to life at the club.

Manchester United full-back Luke Shaw has insisted he has "no doubt" that his teammate Jadon Sancho will be able to live up to his £72m price tag.

The England international joined the Red Devils in the summer from Borussia Dortmund, but so far he has failed to register a single goal or assist for the club.

Sancho has not been a regular within Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's starting XI and even Gareth Southgate admitted that he did not pick him in his latest squad based on form.

"Sometimes, for people, it takes time. But I wouldn't say he's struggling at the moment," Shaw told talkSPORT.

"He's working extremely hard behind closed doors and training really well and looking really sharp. He just hasn't had that bit of luck that sometimes you need for your first goal or first assist.

"But I've got no doubt in my mind, it's coming. The talent he has is unbelievable, he can go right to the very top. It's just about him staying focused, keep doing what he's doing in training and working hard. His time will come."

The two men could both be in action together this Saturday when England take on Andorra in the latest World Cup 2022 qualifying game.
