Wayne Rooney claims that Manchester United can push on and perform more consistently in the Premier League run in.

Wayne Rooney has revealed that he is expecting Manchester United to perform consistently well and make a big push to retain the Premier League title.

Rooney was absent for United's dramatic 2-1 win over Norwich City on Sunday but is confident that he can play a key role in the race to catch league leaders Manchester City.

The England striker told FIFA.com: "We're confident that we can push on now, and start being a bit more consistent towards the end of the season.

"Personally, it's been one of my best goalscoring seasons. I've scored 19 so far, and hopefully I can kick on and score a lot more towards the end of the season.

"We are still in a great position in the league, we're only a couple of points behind and a lot of games to go. We're confident that we can push on now."

United will face Tottenham Hotspur in their next league fixture on Sunday.
