Wayne Rooney: 'Manchester United victory was much needed'

Wayne Rooney insists that Manchester United's 4-0 victory over Queens Park Rangers was "much needed" following their winless start to the season.

Manchester United captain Wayne Rooney has expressed his joy following his team's "much-needed" victory over Queens Park Rangers yesterday.

The Red Devils stormed to a 4-0 win at Old Trafford, with new signings Angel di Maria and Ander Herrera getting on the scoresheet.

Juan Mata and Rooney himself also found the back of the net in the club's first competitive win under manager Louis van Gaal.

The England international took to Twitter to say that he was "delighted with [the] win" and also described summer arrivals Di Maria, Herrera, Daley Blind and Marcos Rojo as "excellent".

Radamel Falcao also made his debut for the Red Devils by entering the field from the bench with 25 minutes left to play.
