Danny Welbeck to undergo knee operation?

Manchester United striker Danny Welbeck could reportedly be absent for another five weeks if he is advised to undergo surgery on a knee problem.

Manchester United striker Danny Welbeck could reportedly undergo surgery on a knee problem that could keep him out of action for the remainder of 2013.

Welbeck has missed United's last six fixtures, while he has also been forced to miss out on international action with England.

According to Sky Sports News, the 22-year-old could be advised to undergo an operation on his knee if treatment fails to improve the injury.

The frontman has previously had two operations on the same area, but surgeons decided against removing his entire knee cartilage due to his age.

Welbeck has scored three goals in nine appearances this season.
