Andy Cole: 'Manchester United fans are bored'

Andy Cole concedes that he can see why Manchester United fans are "bored" by the way that the team have played this season.

Former Manchester United striker Andy Cole has admitted that he can understand why supporters have been left "bored" by the type of football that they have watched this season.

On a winless run of six matches, the Red Devils have also played more backwards passes than any other Premier League team during the opening 17 matches.

Fans have been heard jeering recent performances at Old Trafford and Cole has conceded that he has sympathy with regards to their frustration.

"United have a history and tradition of playing attacking and entertaining football. That's not always possible and I played in plenty of games which were a struggle, but we had no option but to attack," he wrote on Eurosport.

"We were told that the players were to get on the ball, not shirk responsibility, enjoy ourselves and play like United players. Entertaining the fans was paramount. There's not been enough entertainment this season and fans are bored."

Earlier today under-pressure manager Louis van Gaal stormed out of a press conference following questions about his future.
