Man United 'make Erik ten Hag sack decision' after Tottenham embarrassment

Manchester United are reportedly planning to carry on as usual despite increasing pressure on Erik ten Hag's position following Sunday's defeat to Tottenham Hotspur.

Manchester United are reportedly expected to stick with head coach Erik ten Hag ahead of the October international break.

The 54-year-old is under pressure from supporters of the Red Devils after his side lost 3-0 to Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon.

Man United were by far second best in the contest, with goals from Brennan Johnson, Dejan Kulusevski and Dominic Solanke securing a win for the visitors.

The Red Devils were certainly not helped by the dismissal of captain Bruno Fernandes in the closing stages of the first half due to a challenge on James Maddison.

United battled on throughout the second period with little hope of mounting a comeback, especially considering their numerical disadvantage.

Man United make Ten Hag decision?

According to BBC Sport, Man United have made their decision regarding the immediate future of Ten Hag following the team's defeat to Spurs on the weekend.

The report claims that the Red Devils are planning to stick with the Dutchman ahead of two matches across the Europa League and Premier League this week.

It is understood that Man United do not want to make a rash decision regarding the future of the 54-year-old following a disappointing defeat.

As such, it is expected to be business as usual this week at the Theatre of Dreams as the side prepare for two potentially-defining contests for Ten Hag.

The Red Devils currently occupy 12th position in the Premier League standings, already six points behind fourth-placed Chelsea after six matches.

Man United's crucial week

After a sobering loss to Spurs on the weekend, Ten Hag is scheduled to take his troops to Portugal on Thursday night, when Porto will be hoping to put the final nail in the coffin of the Dutch coach.

United are already playing catch up on the continent following a poor showing during gameweek one of the competition, with the Red Devils drawing 1-1 at home to FC Twente.

Should Ten Hag survive the trip to Portugal, he will take charge of Man United in the Second City against Aston Villa in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon.

The Champions League-competing Villans have enjoyed a positive start to the domestic term, losing just one of their opening six top-flight battles.
