Manchester United have been handed a boost in their pursuit of Borussia Dortmund defender Dan-Axel Zagadou, according to a report.
The 22-year-old has endured an injury-hit campaign in Germany so far, being restricted to only five Bundesliga starts this season.
As a result of his persistent injury problems, Inside Futbol are reporting that Dortmund have doubts over the idea of offering the Frenchman a contract extension, whose current deal expires at the end of the season.
Therefore, a potential move for the defender by United becomes an attractive option, with the Dortmund man being available to move to Old Trafford on a free transfer in the summer.
A move for Zagadou is similar to the possible transfer being eyed up for Chelsea's Antonio Rudiger, with United being linked with the German defender ahead of a free transfer in the summer as well.
Zagadou's latest appearance came in Dortmund's 6-0 hammering of Borussia Monchengladbach, in which the defender was forced off before half time due to the latest of this season's injury issues.
