Manchester United have reportedly moved to the head of the queue for Roma midfielder Nicolo Zaniolo.
Zaniolo, who made his Italy debut earlier this year, joined Roma from Inter Milan last summer and scored six times in 36 appearances for I Giallorossi during the 2018-19 campaign.
Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur have both been linked with moves in this summer's transfer window.
However, according to Calciomercato, United currently lead the race for the 20-year-old, who showed his versatility last season by operating as an attacking midfielder, a right winger and a central midfielder.
The report adds that the Red Devils are preparing a £25m bid in the hope of stealing the Italian from under the noses of their Premier League rivals.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side made it two wins from two pre-season matches with a 4-0 victory over Leeds United in Perth on Wednesday.
