Newcastle United have reportedly failed with a loan move for Manchester United attacker Jesse Lingard.
The England international is out of contract at Old Trafford this summer and is widely expected to leave the Red Devils on a free transfer at the end of the season.
A recent report claimed that Newcastle had approached Man United to discuss a loan deal for the 29-year-old, with the Magpies looking for players to boost their fight against relegation.
However, according to BBC Sport, the 20-time English champions have rejected the loan offer from Eddie Howe's side.
The report claims that Ralf Rangnick's side are reluctant to let the midfielder leave this month and are also not interested in allowing him to join top-four rivals West Ham United or Tottenham Hotspur.
Lingard has scored twice and registered one assist in 14 appearances for Man United this season, while he has represented the club on 224 occasions in all competitions since debuting in 2011.
