Mason Mount confirms that he is leaving Chelsea this summer, with Manchester United on the verge of announcing his signature.

Mason Mount has confirmed that he is leaving Chelsea this summer in a message to the club's fans, with Manchester United on the verge of announcing his signature on a long-term contract.

The Red Devils are believed to have come to an agreement with Chelsea last week to sign the England international for an initial £55m, with the deal potentially rising to £60m with add-ons.

There has not yet been an announcement from Chelsea or Man United over the playmaker, but he released a video on social media on Tuesday evening confirming his move away from Stamford Bridge, and a medical at Carrington has allegedly already been completed.

"Hi Chelsea fans. Given the speculation over the last six months this may not come as a surprise to you, but it doesn't make it any easier to tell you I have made the decision to leave Chelsea," said the Englishman.

"I feel you deserved more than just a written statement, so I wanted to tell you directly how grateful I have been for all of your support over the last 18 years.

"I know some of you won't be happy with my decision but it's what is right for me at this moment in my career.

"I joined Chelsea when I was six years old and we have been through a lot together, winning the Youth Cup, my Player of the Year awards, the Super Cup, the Club World Cup and of course the unforgettable night when we won the Champions League.

"I want to say thank you to the academy, Jim and Neil, for being so influential to me from such a young age. The managers I've worked under, Frank [Lampard], Thomas [Tuchel] and Graham [Potter]. The backroom staff, the unsung heroes of Cobham, all my teammates over the years that have become by brothers.

"My family, for the continuous love and support, and most importantly, you guys, for sticking with me throughout. Wish you all the best."

Mount will leave Chelsea having represented the club on 195 occasions in all competitions, scoring 33 goals and contributing 37 assists in the process.

The attacker found it difficult to make his mark during a difficult 2022-23 campaign, only managing three goals and six assists in 35 appearances, but he missed a chunk of football due to injury.

Mount's contract at Stamford Bridge had been due to expire next summer, and the decision has now been made for him to continue his career away from the London club.

The attacker is set to become Man United's first signing of the summer market, but the club are also looking to sign a new goalkeeper and centre-forward in the coming weeks.
