Nemanja Matic is reportedly holding talks with Manchester United regarding a new two-year contract.
Having struggled for opportunities during the first half of the campaign, it was frequently claimed that Matic would leave Old Trafford during one of the upcoming transfer windows.
However, the Serbia international has starred since his return to the starting lineup, leading to United triggering a 12-month option in his contract.
According to The Sun, the 31-year-old is now likely to remain at United in the long term after they revealed a willingness to offer him a deal until 2022.
The report adds that the Premier League giants are also happy to hand Matic a wage rise.
Despite finding himself out of the squad on a number of occasions this season, Matic has still made 20 starts and one substitute outing in all competitions.
