Roma are reportedly lining up a loan offer for Manchester United midfielder Fred.
The 27-year-old was a regular for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side during the 2019-20 campaign, contributing two goals and four assists in 48 appearances in all competitions.
Paul Pogba, Nemanja Matic and Bruno Fernandes are ahead of him in the pecking order, though, and United confirmed on Wednesday that they had completed the signing of Donny van de Beek from Ajax, which could see Fred struggle for regular action next term.
A recent report claimed that United were keen to keep hold of the Brazil international amid suggestions that Galatasaray were lining up a move.
However, according to Calcio Mercato, Roma are lining up a loan offer for the midfielder, who played under the Italian club's head coach Paulo Fonseca at Shakhtar Donetsk.
The report claims that the deal could include a future purchase fee of €25m (£22.2m), which would be a significant drop on the £52m that the English giants paid for his signature in June 2018.
Fred still has three years left to run on his contract with United.
