Cristiano Ronaldo reportedly called for Harry Maguire to be dropped from the Manchester United side last season.
Despite featuring in 37 games for the Red Devils in the 2021-22 season, Maguire's performances as well as his place in the starting lineup came under scrutiny.
According to The Mirror, via The Athletic, Ronaldo approached former Man United boss Ralf Rangnick in February to call for Maguire to be dropped to the bench.
Paul Pogba and Raphael Varane were also present at the meeting, with Ronaldo blaming the England international for United's struggles last term.
Rangnick responded by stating that it was 'inappropriate' to hold a meeting about the defender when Maguire was not involved in the discussions.
The report also claims that Ronaldo told Rangnick that rather than playing as a lone striker he wanted to feature in a front two alongside Edinson Cavani.
