Cristiano Ronaldo reportedly turned down the chance to join Atletico Madrid this summer, before re-signing for Manchester United.
The 36-year-old left Juventus and completed his move back to Old Trafford on deadline day, signing a two-year contract, 12 years after leaving the club to join Real Madrid.
However, according to Spanish radio station Cadena Ser's Carrusel show, Ronaldo's agent Jorge Mendes attempted to lure his client back to La Liga this summer.
After a return to Los Blancos was ruled out and with Barcelona unable to afford the Portugal international amid their financial crisis, Atletico were considered the only viable option if the forward was to go back to the Spanish top flight.
However, the report states that Ronaldo was not interested in a move to Atletico, while the La Liga champions also pulled out as they did not was to sign a club legend of their city rivals.
Ronaldo has since settled in quickly with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side, scoring four goals in his first three appearances against Newcastle United, Young Boys and West Ham United.
