Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane has reportedly rejected moves for Christian Eriksen and Fabian Ruiz in favour of pursuing Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba.
The Spanish side were heavily linked with the Frenchman during the summer, with Zidane known to be an admirer of his work, but they were unable to agree on a deal with United.
While senior Madrid officials want to pursue moves for either Tottenham Hotspur schemer Eriksen or Napoli young gun Ruiz, both of whom they think they could get in January, Zidane is believed to have put his foot down in a meeting with Florentino Perez.
According to Spanish journalist Eduardo Inda, the Madrid manager has made it clear that he only wants Pogba and this is believed to have created friction at the club.
United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is believed to be reluctant to sell Pogba as he sees him as being a vital part of his team moving forward.
The former Juventus midfielder has been restricted to just six appearances in all competitions this season by injury and he has not featured since September.
