Alan Pardew staying grounded despite Newcastle United form

Newcastle United boss Alan Pardew warns his troops that they cannot get carried away with their resurgent form.

Alan Pardew has warned his Newcastle United players that they cannot afford to get carried away by their series of impressive results.

The Magpies beat West Bromwich Albion 2-0 on Sunday to register their fifth successive win in all competitions - a run that includes victories over Manchester City and Liverpool.

Newcastle had to wait until October 18 to pick up their first Premier League win of the season as Pardew found himself the subject of weekly protests from the club's fans following a slow start.

"I've been a manager for enough time to prove people wrong on a few occasions," he told the Daily Star.

"In my younger days I might have been carried away by a run like this, but now I won't.

"The results are much better and confidence is high and we'll just keep doing what we've done from the start of the season."

United, who now sit eighth in the table after surging clear of the relegation zone, host Queens Park Rangers at St James' Park on November 22 following the international break.
