Everton 'readying bid for Newcastle United defender Jamaal Lascelles'

Everton reportedly join the chase for Newcastle United captain Jamaal Lascelles.

Everton are allegedly preparing to launch a summer bid for Newcastle United defender Jamaal Lascelles.

The Blues are lining up a £25m offer for the Magpies captain but face competition from other Premier League clubs for his signature, according to The Mirror.

Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur have also been linked with Lascelles, who is contracted to Newcastle until 2023 after signing a new six-year deal last October.

Lascelles, who was a key figure for the Magpies as they avoided an immediate return to the Championship this season, is said to be on the verge of an England call-up in recognition of his recent performances.

The centre-back has caps for the Three Lions at various youth levels, up to Under-21.
