Newcastle United to release first-team trio?

Jonas Gutierrez, Ryan Taylor and Sammy Ameobi are all expected to leave Newcastle United when their contracts expire at the end of the season, according to a report.

Jonas Gutierrez, Ryan Taylor and Sammy Ameobi are all expected to leave Newcastle United when their contracts expire at the end of the season.

The Magpies have lost their last seven Premier League matches and are poised for a summer upheaval which is likely to include a change of manager.

Testicular cancer survivor Gutierrez and injury-prone midfielder Taylor have featured regularly under interim boss John Carver of late, but will be let go to free up money and space for the new man in charge at St James' Park, according to The Chronicle.

Academy graduate Ameobi has made 23 Premier League appearances this season, scoring two goals, but will not be offered fresh terms by the club either. He will follow older brother Shola, who left Newcastle in 2014, out of the door.

Gutierrez joined the Magpies from Mallorca in 2008 and Taylor signed from Wigan Athletic in 2009.
