Defender Davide Santon has announced on social media that he is leaving Newcastle United to re-sign for former club Inter Milan.
The transfer is yet to be confirmed by either club, but Santon, who left the San Siro for St James' Park in 2011, has revealed that he is looking forward to a new challenge on his return to Italy.
The 24-year-old posted on his official Facebook page: "Life is strange. I never expected to return. Thanks Newcastle and thanks to all the fans for these three-and-a-half years together We've spent many good times. This city and this team will always remain in my heart.
"I start a new adventure. I'm happy to return to Inter. There I started my career and there I lived so many important moments. I will give my best to repay the faith."
The full-back has been restricted to just one appearance in all competitions this season.
