Southampton captain Jose Fonte has admitted that making his Portugal debut against Argentina this evening would be a "dream come true".
The 30-year-old is yet to earn his first international cap, but could line up against three-time Ballon d'Or winner Lionel Messi when Portugal and Argentina go head to head in an international friendly at Old Trafford.
"Playing against Argentina in England at Old Trafford would be a dream come true," Fonte told the press in Portugal. "I hope the coach (Fernando Santos) will give me the opportunity."
At club level, Fonte and his Southampton teammates have been enjoying their start to the season after securing eight wins from 11 games, which has placed them second in the Premier League table, four points behind unbeaten Chelsea.
