Simon Grayson pleased with Preston North End start to Championship life

Preston North End manager Simon Grayson praises his side's start to the Championship season after they picked up their first win of the campaign over MK Dons.

Preston North End manager Simon Grayson has admitted that he is "pleased" with his side's start to their Championship campaign following their win over MK Dons.

North End backed up their point from their opener against Middlesbrough as they defeated Karl Robinson's men thanks to a first-half strike from Paul Gallagher, despite playing the closing stages with 10 men after Jordan Hugill was dismissed.

Grayson told BBC Sport: "We are settling into this league and we're not going to get carried away with ourselves. To take four points from two games - with two clean sheets - I've got to be very pleased.

"We were well organised and counter-attacked well - I thought we could have had a couple more goals in the first half but the sending off made it more difficult for us at the end.

"It is a blatant red card. He [Hugill] didn't need to do it and he's distraught with himself now in the dressing room as he let the rest of the players down."

Preston face Rotherham United in their next Championship match on Tuesday.
