Queens Park Rangers manager Mark Hughes has said that he will not deal with Joey Barton until the Football Association reach a decision on the length of punishment for the Englishman.
The Rangers captain's future is in doubt after he was sent off for elbowing Carlos Tevez in the final-day defeat at Manchester City.
As he was leaving the pitch he kicked Sergio Aguero and appeared to headbutt Vincent Kompany before trying to square up to Mario Balotelli.
"We are waiting to hear on Joey Barton's punishment," Hughes told the Daily Mail.
"He is facing a long ban and we have to take stock of the situation."
Despite the defeat at the Etihad, QPR stayed up on the last day and Hughes is hoping that the following weeks are not all about Barton's future.
"We stayed up. It's a relief," Hughes added. "And now we start again. This is not all about Joey Barton."
Barton admitted to kicking Aguero but has denied the charge of violent conduct for the incident with City skipper Kompany.
