Andres Iniesta insists that the La Liga title race will be far from over even if Barcelona see off Real Madrid in next weekend's El Clasico showdown.

Barcelona midfielder Andres Iniesta has insisted that his side will still have plenty of work to do in the La Liga title race even if they pick up a positive result at the Bernabeu next weekend.

The Catalan giants take on Real Madrid on Saturday afternoon with an 11-point lead over their arch rivals at the top of the table, having played one game more.

Atletico Madrid are within six points of Barca, though, while Valencia are a further two points behind, which Iniesta believes is still too close for comfort ahead of the first Clasico league encounter of the season.

Asked if Madrid will be out of the title race with defeat, he told reporters: "Being honest, I don't think so. It is hard to talk about La Liga being over in December.

"It is true that, if we are able to win there, it is going to be a huge step, but we shouldn't forget Atletico Madrid, who are six points behind. We are looking forward to playing a great game and try to get the three points."

Barcelona have dropped points in just three of their 16 games this season, with boss Ernesto Valverde yet to taste defeat in La Liga since taking over in the summer.
