Gareth Bale equals Steve Archibald's goal haul

Real Madrid's Gareth Bale equals Steve Archibald's return of 24 La Liga goals, making them the joint third leading British goalscorers in Spain's top flight.

Following his goal for Real Madrid against Getafe earlier today, Gareth Bale moved up to joint third on the list of leading British goalscorers in La Liga.

The Welsh international, who joined Los Blancos from Tottenham Hotspur in the summer of 2013, took his top-flight tally to 24 goals since his debut, which is the same haul as former Barcelona striker Steve Archibald.

To become the number one, Bale must surpass John Aldridge's return of 33 goals for Real Sociedad, while Gary Lineker fired in 42 goals in a Barcelona shirt.

Bale's goal at the Coliseum Alfonso Perez helped Madrid to record a 3-0 victory.
