Rafael Benitez has revealed that he hopes Cristiano Ronaldo can stay at Real Madrid for "many more years" to "increase his legend" at the club, after he equalled Raul's record goal-tally of 323 for Los Blancos.
The Portuguese forward not only matched the Spaniard's record but he also surpassed the 500-goal mark for both club and country after being honoured at the Santiago Bernabeu this week.
Ronaldo cast doubt over his future at Real Madrid earlier this week, but manager Rafael Benitez is hoping that the 30-year-old can stay for "many more years".
"The numbers are there. I hope he continues to score plenty of goals and that we enjoy him for many more years," Benitez said, according to Goal.com.
"That Ronaldo is in Madrid history is something very important, but I hope his legend increases."
Benitez's side take on city rivals Atletico Madrid on Sunday at the Vicente Calderon Stadium.
