Real Madrid head coach Rafael Benitez has hailed the performances that his fringe players produced during the 2-0 win over Malmo in the Champions League last night.
Benitez took the opportunity in Sweden to use some members of his squad that had not featured too much this season, including Alvaro Arbeloa, Casemiro and Nacho.
However, the changes did not hamper Los Blancos, who ran out victors thanks to a brace from Cristiano Ronaldo.
Speaking to the club's official website after the final whistle, Benitez said: "The decision to use players who've played fewer minutes worked out and it proves that they're working hard and training well.
"This allows me to give them playing time and for them to prove themselves. The problem comes if the players don't put the work in because then, when you do play them, it shows. They all showed the hard work they've been putting in, their talent and professionalism."
The result has kept Madrid top of Group A, having collected maximum points from their opening two games.
