Atletico Madrid striker Radamel Falcao insists that his side are challenging for the La Liga title with Barcelona this season.

Atletico Madrid striker Radamel Falcao has insisted that his side and Barcelona are the main challengers for the La Liga title.

After winning the Europa League last season, Diego Simeone's men have emerged as title challengers in this campaign.

Sitting in second place, Atletico are four points clear of local rivals and reigning champions Real Madrid and nine points off league leaders Barcelona.

"With the budgets available to Real Madrid and Barcelona, they can have the best players in the world," Falcao told Spanish television station Cuatro.

"But it is Barca first, Atletico second and Madrid third. So now we should talk about Barca and Atletico."

The Colombian striker has been continually linked with a move away from the Vicente Calderon this year.
