Florentino Perez: 'We want Cristiano Ronaldo at Real Madrid for many years'

Real Madrid president Florentino Perez expresses his desire to keep Cristiano Ronaldo at the club for "many years to come" after he agreed a new five-year contract.

Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has said that he wants Cristiano Ronaldo to remain at the club for "many years".

Ronaldo yesterday agreed a new five-year contract with Los Blancos that will keep the 31-year-old at the Bernabeu until 2021.

However, the three-time Ballon d'Or winner has insisted that he will continue playing after the end of the new deal, and Perez hinted that he would like to keep the partnership going.

"When I arrived here in 2009 we knew we had signed a special player and you want him to be part of the club for many years," he told reporters.

"We share the same ambition and desire, never throw in the towel, always want more and that is why we need him to remain here at this club, at your home.

"You will continue to be part of this club, you want to continue to build this legend, we want to be together for many years to come."

Ronaldo is Madrid's top goalscorer of all time with 371 in just 360 games.
