AS Monaco are reportedly demanding a world-record £178m for Kylian Mbappe in the hope that Barcelona will enter the bidding.
The France international has attracted interest from the likes of Real Madrid, Arsenal and Manchester City for scoring 23 goals in all competitions last season.
Madrid emerged as the leading contenders for the 18-year-old amid reports that they were willing to part with an initial £145m rising to £160m for the forward's signature.
However, the Daily Mail claims that Monaco have increased their asking price due to the rumoured £196m that Barcelona are likely to receive for selling Neymar to Paris Saint-Germain.
It is believed that Madrid are not prepared to meet Monaco's new valuation.
