Isco has admitted that he is pleased with Julen Lopetegui's appointment as Real Madrid manager, as it gives him another chance to work with his former Spain boss.
Lopetegui was sacked by La Roja last week on the eve of the World Cup after being confirmed as Madrid's new head coach 24 hours beforehand.
The 51-year-old's dismissal made plenty of headlines, but Isco is looking forward to a swift reunion later this summer when he returns to his club side following the conclusion of Russia 2018.
"He's a coach who I've known for many years; we worked together right the way up the Spain setup," he told reporters. "He's given me confidence when I haven't been enjoying a central role at my club, and he's a great coach."
Fernando Hierro has been promoted from his previous role of sporting director to manage Spain for the duration of their World Cup campaign.
