Sergio Canales receives ten stitches

Real Sociedad midfielder Sergio Canales receives ten stitches in a head wound following a clash with Valencia's Seydou Keita in Sunday's 1-0 win over his former club.

Real Sociedad midfielder Sergio Canales needed ten stitches in a head wound following a clash with Valencia's Seydou Keita in Sunday's meeting at San Sebastian.

The Spaniard suffered the knock in the latter stages of the La Liga clash following a high challenge with Keita, but he later revealed that "everything is fine".

"Everything is fine family, a few days without making headers and I'll be fine... Great win against a great team," Canales tweeted on Sunday evening.

Canales, 23, who was once regarded as one of the brightest talents in European football, moved to Sociedad from Valencia in the January transfer window.

Sociedad were 1-0 winners on their own patch.
