Roma have rejected a €60m (£51.1m) transfer offer from Newcastle United for midfielder Lorenzo Pellegrini, according to a report.
The 25-year-old enjoyed another productive campaign in Rome during the 2021-22 campaign, scoring 13 goals and registering seven assists in 39 appearances across all competitions.
Pellegrini's form helped Jose Mourinho's side to finish sixth in Serie A last season, whilst also helping Roma to lift the UEFA Conference League trophy back in May.
Such form has prompted interest from Premier League side Newcastle according to Corriere dello Sport, who report that the Magpies have already had a bid turned down for their target.
The report suggests that Roma will not entertain any offers for their captain during the upcoming transfer window, with Pellegrini at the centre of their project out in Italy.
The Italy international is also said to be committed to staying at Roma for the remainder of his career according to the report, despite reported interest from several other clubs across Europe as well.
Pellegrini has also been in excellent form for his country over the past week, scoring his side's only goal of the game in the 1-1 draw with Germany in Bologna on June 4, before scoring the second during a 2-1 win over Hungary on Tuesday evening.
Meanwhile, Newcastle are set for a busy transfer window on Tyneside, with manager Eddie Howe on the look out for several reinforcements during his side's first summer window under the stewardship of its Saudi-backed owners.
