Southampton's Toby Alderweireld to undergo scan on hamstring injury

Toby Alderweireld says that he will undergo a scan on his hamstring injury, but is unsure about the extent of the damage.

Southampton loanee Toby Alderweireld has claimed that he is in the dark about how severe his hamstring injury is, but will undergo a scan to assess the damage.

The 25-year-old, who is on loan at St Mary's from Atletico Madrid, suffered the problem in the second half of last night's 1-0 defeat to Arsenal at the Emirates.

"I will have a scan and I hope it's not too serious, but for sure a hamstring is always bad, so we'll see," the Daily Echo quotes Alderweireld as saying. "I'm hoping to recover very soon, very fast."

The Saints, who have lost their last two league fixtures, will take on Manchester United on home turf next Monday.
