Jamie Redknapp believes that Southampton are "serious" challengers for a Champions League place this season.
Ronald Koeman's side have exceeded expectations after many tipped them to be in a relegation battle following the departure of boss Mauricio Pochettino and several first-team players.
The Saints currently reside third in the Premier League table, two points above fourth-placed Manchester United.
On Saturday, Southampton secured a 2-1 triumph over Newcastle United without a number of their key players.
"Southampton won without Morgan Schneiderlin, Victor Wanyama, Sadio Mane and Toby Alderweireld and they still have Jay Rodriguez to come back," Redknapp wrote in his Daily Mail column. "They are serious top-four contenders."
The Saints' next game is at home to Crystal Palace in the fourth round of the FA Cup.
