Norwich City manager Dean Smith has admitted their recent Southampton defeat was a "tough night" for the club, who remain bottom of the Premier League table.

Norwich City manager Dean Smith has reflected on the recent defeat against Southampton.

The Canaries were beaten 2-0 by the Saints following goals from Che Adams and Oriol Romeu, which marked their third consecutive loss, with the squad now having gone four matches without a win.

The result left them bottom of the Premier League table, five points adrift of safety, but Norwich have played more times than all of the other teams around them.

"It felt a tough night. I thought Southampton played at a high level and we had too many six out of tens tonight and if you have that then you are not going to compete very well in the Premier League," Smith told the press.

"I felt the first half was pretty much like the Carrow Road game where they played at a really high level. We were not aggressive enough without the ball and we certainly weren't good enough with the ball."

Norwich City will be back in action on Wednesday night in the Premier League where they face Liverpool.
