Gaston Ramirez 'demands showdown talks with Southampton'

Southampton midfielder Gaston Ramirez reportedly demands showdown talks with the club's chairman Nicola Cortese.

Southampton midfielder Gaston Ramirez has reportedly demanded showdown talks with chairman Nicola Cortese to establish whether he has a future at the club.

The Uruguay midfielder has not started a Premier League match since April, and has been linked with Inter Milan and Napoli.

Ramirez's agent Pablo Betancourt has insisted that the questions over his client's future must be resolved before the World Cup finals.

"I have to meet the chairman to see if Ramirez stays in the Premier League or if he will return to Italy. If he is to go, it is important that it happens before the World Cup," The Mirror quotes him as saying.

Ramirez has made just six appearances from the bench for the Saints this season.
