Pepe Reina: David Villa's retirement leaves "great void" for Spain

Spain goalkeeper Pepe Reina claims that David Villa's international retirement leaves a "great void" in the La Roja squad.

Spain goalkeeper Pepe Reina has claimed that David Villa's international retirement leaves a "great void" in the La Roja squad.

The long-serving striker marked his 97th cap with a goal, as the world champions beat Australia 3-0 on Monday.

"Villa leaves a great void in this team," Reina told reporters after the game "Especially on a human level.

"I'd imagine he was angry [at missing out in the first two games]. He wants to play every minute of every game."

Spain will exit the competition after finishing their group on three points.
