Tottenham Hotspur scorer Dele Alli says that it was 'no surprise' how dominant the team were against Real Madrid in their 3-1 triumph at Wembley.

Tottenham Hotspur star Dele Alli has praised the performance of his teammates after stunning Real Madrid in the Champions League.

On Wednesday evening at Wembley, Mauricio Pochettino's men progressed into the knockout rounds of the competition with a 3-1 victory over the Spanish giants.

Alli, who missed Spurs' opening three group matches due to a UEFA ban, scored twice before Christian Eriksen topped off a successful night for the North London outfit.

"It was a fantastic display by us," the 21-year-old told BT Sport. "We knew if we stuck to our gameplan and were solid at back then we'd get chances. We're very happy with the result.

"I wasn't surprised [we were dominant]. We couldn't believe how much space we had at the Bernabeu. We don't want to just compete with these teams we want to beat them. I'm happy to get two goals but more importantly it was a win."

Tottenham have two more games left to play before they contemplate the round of 16.
