Tottenham Hotspur boss Jose Mourinho has suggested that Japhet Tanganga is not far away from a return to the first-team squad.
The highly-regarded academy graduate has only made one senior outing this season following an injury during pre-season which saw him pick up a thigh problem following the EFL Cup tie with Chelsea.
However, while ruling out the 21-year-old in the short term, Mourinho has hinted that the defender should be back in contention over the coming weeks.
Speaking to reporters at a press conference, the Portuguese boss said: "Tanganga is the only player we really say has an injury or is in treatment from quite an important injury.
"Very unlucky kid, he had a problem from before lockdown, then hard work to get back, played Chelsea in the cup and then this injury. But he's coming."
Tanganga recently penned a five-year contract with the North London outfit.
