Tottenham Hotspur reportedly welcome Ryan Sessegnon back into light training after undergoing hamstring surgery on an injury he picked up during pre-season.

Tottenham Hotspur defender Ryan Sessegnon has reportedly resumed light training after undergoing hamstring surgery earlier this year.

Sessegnon has been sidelined since February, when he originally picked up the injury before suffering a fresh setback that required surgery during pre-season training in July.

Ivan Perisic, who occupies a similar position to Sessegnon, is also out of action due to an injury he sustained last week and could miss a large portion of the season.

According to a report from the Daily Mail, the 23-year-old Sessegnon is close to a return for Spurs and has resumed light on-field training.

The report adds that while the left-sided player is showing significant progress, he is still several weeks away from returning to full training with the squad.

Spurs have not specified a timeline for the player's complete return to fitness, and the club's medics are expected to adopt a cautious approach to his rehabilitation despite the team missing a few players at the moment.

After failing to secure a regular place in the side under Antonio Conte, Sessegnon was one of the players who was tipped to move away from Spurs in the summer.

The former England Under-21 international joined the Lilywhites from Fulham in 2019 and has made 56 appearances for the club, recording three goals and four assists in his time at the club.
