Tottenham Hotspur manager Andre Villas-Boas: 'We are ashamed'

Andre Villas-Boas says that Tottenham Hotspur are "ashamed" of this afternoon's heavy 6-0 defeat to Manchester City.

Andre Villas-Boas has said that Tottenham Hotspur should feel "ashamed" of this afternoon's 6-0 humbling at the hands of Manchester City.

Jesus Navas opened the scoring after 13 seconds at the Etihad Stadium, and rounded things off in the 90th minute following two more strikes from Sergio Aguero, another from Alvaro Negredo and an own-goal by Sandro.

"To lose 6-0 is extremely embarrassing," PA quotes the Portuguese coach as saying. "We have high expectations for the season and losing to a rival by that scoreline is always difficult.

"A defeat like this tends to stick more to your career than the good things you achieve.

"Our game plan, our confidence and motivation was affected after we suffered a goal in 13 seconds. It is a bad moment. We have to be ashamed of the result."

The North Londoners are ninth in the Premier League.
