Attacking midfielder Josip Ilicic was the subject of a late bid from Tottenham Hotspur, according to a report.
Fiorentina rejected the last-minute offer of £8.7m from Spurs for the 27-year-old Slovenia international, reports Tutto Mercato.
Mauricio Pochettino's side also failed in their attempts to bring in forward Saido Berahino from West Bromwich Albion, who Tony Pulis claims will not be the subject of another bid from the North London club.
Ilicic, signed by Fiorentina from Palermo in 2013, started just 17 games for the Serie A side last season but has begun both the side's fixtures this term.
Spurs did bring in attacking options before the close of the transfer window, in the form of Son Heung-min and Clinton N'Jie, leading the club's Argentine coach to state that Harry Kane is not his only available striker for this campaign.
