Roma are reportedly reluctant to pay up the £25m release clause in Toby Alderweireld's Tottenham Hotspur contract.
The Italian club are believed to have already met with the Belgian centre-back's agent to discuss personal terms on a £3.14m-a-year deal.
However, Calciomercato claims that there is still a gap between the two clubs' valuation of the 30-year-old.
Alderweireld has a £25m release clause in his contract which expires in two weeks' time, but Roma are hoping to pay closer to £18m, meaning that talks will continue.
Meanwhile, the same report indicates that Roma have stepped up their efforts to sign Gianluca Mancini from Atalanta BC for around £18m.
