West Bromwich Albion have reportedly started working on a new contract for Saido Berahino amid speculation that other clubs are preparing to make a bid for the striker in the January transfer window.
The 21-year-old is the top-scoring Englishman in the Premier League so far this season, having scored five times in seven outings for the Baggies.
According to the Birmingham Mail, the club are keen to ensure that Berahino remains at the Hawthorns for the long term, and will offer him a new contract just 10 months after he signed a three-and-a-half year deal which pays him £20,000 per week.
Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with a £15m move for the forward, who scored the winning goal in England Under-21s' 2-1 win against Croatia Under-21s on Friday.
