Tottenham Hotspur will reportedly attempt to offload £30m misfit Erik Lamela by offering him to AC Milan in a swap deal which would see Mario Balotelli move the other way.
The Argentine winger, 21, has started only three Premier League games since completing his club-record move from Roma and he is currently out injured.
However, he remains highly thought of in Serie A following his 15-goal season at the Stadio Olimpico last year, and Inter Milan, Juventus and AC Milan are all believed to be monitoring his situation.
According to Italian publication Tuttosport, Spurs will look to take advantage of the Rossoneri's interest in Lamela by trying to sign Balotelli in exchange to improve their light forward ranks.
The sale of Jermain Defoe to Toronto FC has left Tim Sherwood with only Emmanuel Adebayor and the misfiring Roberto Soldado as striking options, so Balotelli would be a welcome summer addition.
The controversial frontman scored 20 goals in 54 Premier League games for Manchester City and could be tempted to return to England, with Milan currently labouring in ninth in the Serie A table.
