Schalke 04 have admitted that they are open to the idea of letting Lewis Holtby join Tottenham Hotspur this month for a cut-price fee.
Holtby confirmed last Friday that he will join Spurs in the summer on a free transfer, after deciding not to sign a new contract with the Bundesliga giants.
Schalke managing director Horst Heldt has revealed that they will consider an early approach from Spurs if they want to secure Holtby's services this month.
Heldt told reporters: "If Tottenham ask for Holtby in the January window, we will talk to them about it.
"Nothing has happened yet, but, from our point of view, we are prepared to speak to them.
"It would have to be done quickly, because we would have to find a replacement for him."
The 22-year-old has shared his delight at securing a move to White Hart Lane, claiming that the deal fulfills a childhood dream of playing in the Premier League.
